Welcome Message from Rex L. Crawley, PHD, BMLDI Co-Coordinator
Welcome to BMLDI!
It is an honor and pleasure to serve as co-director of the BMLDI again this year. I am confident that each of you will reach new leadership heights during this intensive experience. We have labored long hard to ensure that you are exposed to the best that there is to offer in the African American Community and beyond. Again this year we spared no expense to make sure that this was a quality, powerful, impactful week. Just think about it, in the next week you will have the opportunity to spend quality time with leaders from all around the city, you will have the opportunity to meet other young leaders that are in the same stage of development as you are, and most importantly you will have the opportunity to make the conscious decision to be a leader, not a just a follower. BMLDI is an EXPERIENCE and you will only get out of it what you put into it so this week, this year we challenge you all to give as much as you can and likewise get as much as you can. Take full advantage of the opportunity to network with the BMLDI faculty session leaders and speakers, make sure you ask for business cards and contact information from speakers that you connect with. Make this EXPERIENCE work for you! Finally, focus on making new friends and maintaining those relationships over the next academic year. Your interaction with these new friends will not end here, you will have time to develop them throughout the year in our Saturday program, but it all begins right here, right now. Here is some advice for success in the BMLDI summit and year-round program:
Congratulations on your selection! Rex L. Crawley, Ph.D. Co-Director, BMLDI |
